Each year on October 16 it is World Food Day, a day started by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1981 to raise awareness on global hunger and food safety. While worldwide there is more than enough food produced to feed the planet, a July UN report revealed the world is moving backwards when it comes to eliminating hunger and malnutrition. The report cited poverty, climate change and the pandemic as reasons, but conflict is said to be the leading cause for global hunger.
