In a rather unusual incident reported by the South China Morning Post, a resident from China’s Fujian province, who goes by the name Qiu, managed to pull off quite a heist.
She managed to steal an iPhone 14 Plus valued at 7,000 yuan (that’s roughly $1,000) by employing an unexpected tactic. She chewed through the security cable inside the store.
The surveillance footage showed Qiu casually approaching the phone, pretending to scroll through it while discreetly munching through the cable.
Remarkably, even though an alarm went off, the store’s staff didn’t notice anything unusual.
It wasn’t until 30 minutes later, upon discovering the missing phone and chewed-up cable, that the authorities were alerted and Qiu was arrested.

According to HK01, the woman surnamed Qiu went into an Apple store in Fujian as she had lost her phone and wanted to buy one. When she went into the store and saw how expensive the iPhone 14 Plus was, she decided that she would steal it.
At first, she tried to tug on the cable but it was not giving way, so she looked around and once no one was looking, she bit into the cord with all her might, setting the phone free from any constraints. The woman quickly put the phone into her bag.
The staff who was on duty heard the alarm ring but closed it immediately as they thought that it was just the alarm malfunctioning, which allowed Qiu to escape.
However, after checking, they found that there was indeed a phone that had gone missing and checked the CCTV footage to find out what happened.
