It’s been a tumultuous year in US politics, from the steady stream of surprises coming out of the White House to partisan tensions over arch-conservative Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation as a Supreme Court justice.

Whether news reports cover President Donald Trump’s family separation policy, his unconventional relations with traditional world allies, or the low-level hum of the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into election interference by Russia, millions of Americans have grown used to two or three very different major political stories competing for their attention every day.

In the second part of our special townhall with immigrants to the US and their family members, we asked for their thoughts on a breathless year in politics.
