The Washington, DC-based National Symphony Orchestra released Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No 7 Allegro con brio on May 12, 2020. The online performance was produced by principal trumpeter William Gerlach. The videos were produced by the musicians themselves at home, as they observe social distancing in the US capital during the coronavirus pandemic. The orchestra normally performs at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, but the venue has postponed or cancelled more than 1,000 events and performances this year and will remain closed until August.
