Bangladesh has started receiving uranium from Russia for a new nuclear power plant built with Moscow’s support. The first batch of nuclear fuel arrived at the plant in a village west of the capital Dhaka on October 6, 2023. Once fully operational, the nuclear plant will be the South Asian country’s largest power station by generating capacity. Moscow is bankrolling the US$12.65 billion project with a loan for 90 per cent of its cost.
