UAE’s first locally made satellite launched from Japanese space center

A rocket carrying the United Arab Emirates’ first locally made satellite lifted off from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Centre on Monday.

The KhalifaSat Earth observation satellite was launched on board a H-2A rocket from the centre in Kagoshima Prefecture.

The H-2A rocket also carried a Japanese Ibuki-2 satellite, which is to monitor greenhouse gasses.
