Tropical storm Khanun brought heavy rains and winds to the Korean peninsula on August 10, 2023, after sweeping through southern Japan. More than 14,000 people in South Korea have been evacuated from flood-hit areas, while hundreds of train routes and flights have been cancelled. Japan’s meteorological agency says another approaching storm, Typhoon Lan, could hit the capital Tokyo area by August 13.
