Asha Cuthbert is a half-Filipino and half-British actress who grew up in Hong Kong and made her start in show business as a YouTuber in 2008. She shifted into acting and TV hosting as her online popularity grew. Cuthbert recalls struggling as a child with her Eurasian identity, and how she tried to fit in while facing racist comments such as, “Thank God you look like your dad.” She said she now fully embraces her mixed ancestry as she navigates through the entertainment industry, despite sometimes being labelled as “too white” for certain roles. In this episode of Listen to Her, Cuthbert sits down with Post senior reporter Lisa Cam to discuss her journey from appearing on mobile platforms to bigger screens.
