Almost a month after the Supreme Court collegium recommended names of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Aniruddha Bose and Gauhati High Court Chief Justice AS Bopanna for elevation to the Supreme Court, Narendra Modi government has decided to reject the two names. Sources told Tiranga TV the Centre claims that if the two names are cleared, it would go against the principle of ‘proper regional representation.’ However, in the past, the Modi govt has accepted the collegium’s decisions without keeping this factor in mind.
