A five-judge bench headed by the CJI Ranjan Gogoi appointed a three-member panel to mediate on the historic Ayodhya dispute. The panel will be led by Former SC judge FM Kalifullah, Senior advocate and mediation expert Sriram Panchu and Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and will submit its report in eight weeks. Hindu Mahasabha, a key stakeholder is against the mediation process and controversy has already erupted over Sri Sri Ravishankar’s appointment. The apex court pointed out that the Ayodhya case is not about property, but of “mind, heart and healing – if possible”. Undeniably, Ayodhya dispute has changed the socio-political fabric of India.
