A zoo in Thailand’s northeastern region announced on April 9, 2023, that it has bred a Red-headed vulture, marking the first successful attempt in 30 years and only the second time in the world. Also known as the Asian king vulture, the bird of prey is listed as critically endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. It is said to have gone extinct in the wild since 1992, and the Zoological Park Organisation of Thailand has been trying to breed it since 2005.
