Taiwan displayed its latest self-developed combat drones on November 15, 2022, as the island looked to bolster its fleet of uncrewed aerial vehicles. The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), Taiwan’s top weapons maker, predicted that Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs) would become a future trend. Taiwanese and US military experts have argued that armed UAVs could prove effective in repelling an attack from the Chinese mainland. Beijing regards the self-governing island as a breakaway province and has never renounced the use of force to bring it under control.
