Nationals Leader David Littleproud says the reason supermarket egg prices are going to skyrocket with the new caged eggs rule is because Australia is “wall-to-wall” with Labor.

“We’ve got wall-to-wall Labor now, and the only reason that didn’t happen last time was that we had a Coalition government in New South Wales, a Nationals Agriculture Minister in NSW,” he told Sky News Australia.

“Between Queensland and NSW, where most of the egg production is, where they resisted this move because effectively this is the decision of individual states – animal welfare is determined by individual states.”
