Russia’s defence ministry on January 4, 2023, blamed a deadly Ukrainian missile strike on Makiivka, Donetsk, on the illegal use of mobile phones. It said the attack used phone signals to locate troops and killed 89 servicemen, raising the reported death toll significantly from 63.
