The magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit Taiwan on April 3, 2024, was the strongest in 25 years, according to the island’s Central Weather Administration. The latest disaster revived memories of Taiwan’s largest-ever earthquake in 1999, when a magnitude 7.6 quake killed some 2,400 people and injured 10,000 more.
