Authorities moved into Hong Kong Polytechnic University on November 28, 2019, to search for dangerous items and gather evidence after recent violent protests at the campus as well as to try and convince any remaining demonstrators to leave.A small group of protesters had remained in hiding on campus despite a police siege of the complex starting on November 17. Clashes with police started around November 12 when several Hong Kong universities became battlegrounds, with the violence at PolyU escalating on November 14 when protesters started to dig in.
