Oklahoma State RB Chuba Hubbard says he won’t participate in workouts due to coach Mike Gundy’s OAN shirt
Oklahoma State star running back Chuba Hubbard said he will no longer participate in Cowboys activities due to a photo of head coach Mike Gundy wearing a T-shirt of a far-right TV channel.
Gundy was photographer recently on a fishing trip with his two sons while wearing a One America News Network, a far-right, pro-Trump cable news network founded in 2013 and known to push conspiracy theories.
“I will not stand for this.. This is completely insensitive to everything going on in society, and it’s unacceptable. I will not be doing anything with Oklahoma State until things CHANGE,” Hubbard tweeted over the photo of Gundy
Fellow Canadian and star linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga also quote tweeted Hubbard and stood beside his roommate.
OSU officials have not responded to The Oklahoman for comment.
Gundy made national waves in April with comments supporting OANN during an hour-long teleconference.
“I tell you what’s funny is, I was flipping through stations. I found one — I don’t even know if anybody knows about this — it’s called OAN,” Gundy said in April. “It’s One America News. And it was so refreshing. They just report the news. There’s no commentary. There’s no opinions on this. There’s no left. There’s no right. They just reported the news. And I’ve been watching them the last week, because they’re given us the news and given us more information — in my opinion — some of the positives are coming out. So, that was refreshing.”
OSU players began reporting to campus on June 1 for COVID-19 testing. Three players tested positive — including Ogbongbemiga, who said he also attended a protest of racial injustice the day before in Tulsa
