A Myanmar junta court sentenced ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi to seven years in prison for corruption on December 30, 2022, a source said. The sentencing ends the Nobel laureate’s 18-month trial and brings her combined jail term to 33 years. Detained since the February 2021 military coup, the 77-year-old deposed leader has been convicted of every charge levelled against her, ranging from corruption to illegally possessing walkie-talkies and flouting Covid restrictions.
