From midwife to journalist.

Today’s topic: BBC Radio 5 Live interview with Naga Munchetty on the midwife shortage in the UK.

πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸΌ A good birth is SO important. Not just for the mother, but for the baby’s health and their ongoing relationship with their partner, too.

πŸ“ Action is needed NOW.

Background:
In 2019, I began the seemingly impossible journey to change careers from healthcare into something else. I wasn’t entirely sure where I was heading, but my pursuit of presenting led me to develop a dab hand at editing. In 2022, I became a producer/journalist for a national TV news channel, then this year I moved on to become a video journalist for an international newspaper. Now, the aim is to combine my women’s health knowledge with media experience to progress the women’s health agenda.

RealTalk 3.0 is my personal VLOG, talking through what it’s like to change careers in your late 20s/early 30s. It’s part life experience, part opinion, and part clinically informed. Hopefully it’ll be interesting or perhaps even helpful for anyone looking to change their career course midway through adulthood. As you can imagine, it’s been an interesting journey so far and while I’m also still a practising midwife, the series documents the highs and lows of both careers interchangeably on the daily.
