Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says there seems to be a misconception in Australia that the “path to victory” for the Liberal and National parties is to “adopt left-leaning policies”.
“To adopt high taxes and regulation,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Rita Panahi.
“What we should do if we want to get back into government is to get behind policies that lower peoples taxes, that cuts their cost of living, that gets governments out of their lives.
“If we provide a credible, conservative, low tax, small government alternative, we could do very well at the next election.”
