Thailand’s tourism sector has suffered a huge blow from the coronavirus pandemic. Arrivals in the country from overseas plunged 76 per cent in March 2020. But many tourist hotspots including in the capital Bangkok are focusing on renovation work so they are ready once borders reopen and visitors return. On May 13, Thailand reported zero new Covid-19 cases or fatalities, for the first time since the nation recorded its first infection four months ago.
