On Nation Now with Mandar Phanse tonight, The Delhi government has announced free public transport to all women. While making the announcement, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the move would empower women to work and study and would encourage public transport as well which is considered to be the safest. He also added that the scheme would cost the government around 700-800 crore rupees. Arvind Kejriwal also mentioned that he did not need the Centre’s approval for the same. This announcement has sparked off a massive row. If the AAP was truly committed towards women’s empowerment, why did it field only one female candidate in Delhi in the 2019 polls? How is offering free bus and metro tickets to women necessarily going to guarantee safety? Listen in for more details!
