Workers from the Japanese department store Seibu staged a rare industrial action in the capital Tokyo’s bustling Ikebukuro district on August 31, 2023. Some 900 workers stopped work after talks with management over the planned sale of their company broke down. It marks the first major walkout in the country in decades.
