Hirotsu Bio Science, a Japanese biotech firm, says it has developed the world’s first early screening test for pancreatic cancer using roundworms. In November 2022, it launched the “N-NOSE plus Pancreas” test, which uses the worm’s highly sensitive sense of smell. The company edits the worms’ genetic code so that they swim away from pancreatic cancer samples.
