Japan Airlines (JAL) is tipped to be among the first launch customers for US aircraft manufacturer Boom Supersonic’s Overture passenger jet. Designed to cruise at Mach 1.7 (2,100km/h) and run on sustainable aviation fuel, the jet is being hailed as a next-generation supersonic passenger plane. JAL has signed a pre-order agreement to purchase 20 of the aircraft and could be using them for commercial flights by as early as 2029.
