Indonesia has seen a rise in the number of acute kidney injury cases, with the fatal illness killing over 150 children since August 2022. Health authorities have found a link between acute kidney injury with ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol, which are commonly found in medicinal syrups. Authorities have since temporarily banned their use in the country.
