The construction of a multi-million dollar port in the southern state of Kerala has become the focus of protests.
For months, a Christian fishing community, has been leading demonstrations against the project.
It says it is causing coastal erosion and destroying livelihoods.
But a Hindu group, close to the governing BJP, is holding counter rallies in support of it.
Construction of the port being built by Asia’s richest man has been stalled.
Gautam Adani has also faced protests in Australia, against a coal mine project in Queensland state.

Al Jazeera’s Pavni Mittal reports from the site of the protests in Vizhinjam, India.
