At least 15 people, including 13 children, drowned when a boat capsized on January 18, 2024, in western India. The incident happened in Gujarat state as pupils were travelling to a picnic organised by their school. Dozens of people joined in the frantic search for survivors around the lake near the city of Vadodara, where the boat capsized. Local police gave no official explanation, but it is believed the boat may have capsized due to overcrowding.
