United States President Donald Trump has accused Democrats of pursuing an “illegal, partisan attempted coup” and declaring “open war” on American democracy as they seek to impeach him for withholding aid to Ukraine in order to obtain information on his political rival.
Trump wrote a six-page letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and faces charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
He says he wrote the letter to create a record of his response and denies he did anything wrong.
