The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for 24 hours strike on June 17 across India in protest against the incident in West Bengal where a junior doctor of NRS hospital was injured during an attack by relatives of a patient, who had died. IMA said that only emergency and casualty services will be offered. Sources told Tiranga TV that the protesting junior doctors, who have been demanding better security have agreed to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. However, they said the meeting would have to be in full view of the media and not behind closed doors. Protesting doctors have set six conditions, including an unconditional apology from Mamata Banerjee for her remarks against the agitation and action against those who assaulted their colleague.
