The Israeli Defence Force claims its air defence system has intercepted one rocket launched from Gaza.

The IDF’s claim came just one hour before the truce between Israel and Hamas was set to expire.

Israel’s military has since resumed combat against the Hamas terrorist organisation.

In a statement posted on X, the IDF said: “Hamas violated the operational pause and, in addition, fired toward Israeli territory”.

Former ambassador to Israel Dave Sharma joined Sky News Australia to discuss the latest update on the escalating war in the Middle East.

“This was always going to be a temporary pause to allow for the release of hostages,” Mr Sharma said.

“This military operation is back on, and this conflict is back on … when it ends is when Hamas is militarily defeated or when Hamas’ military leadership surrenders.”
