The Health Ministry on Friday said, there is a demand of 75,000 ventilators in India. Currently, 19,398 ventilators are available and an order has been placed for 60,884 more. The govt has also ordered 2.49 crore N95 masks. There is a demand for 35 lakh RT-PCR kits and the ICMR has placed an order for 21.35 lakh kits. So far, the ICMR has received 13.75 lakh kits. PD Vaghela, Chairman of Empowered Group-3 said around 11 empowered groups have been set up by the government under Disaster Management Act to ensure seamless coordination. The govt added that the DRDO has developed three types of new polyurethane coated nylon and polyester and will share the technology to manufacturers of India.
