The first known case of apparent human-to-animal transmission of Covid-19, a pet dog in Hong Kong who tested ‘weak’ positive has died after recovering and leaving quarantine, the South China Morning Post reported. The 17-year-old Pomeranian belonged to an elderly lady who also tested positive for the virus. Officials believed ‘low levels’ of virus was passed from the owner to the pet but the pet did not show any symptoms. The dog tested ‘weakly positive’ and was let go after recovery. The owner refused the city’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) to conduct autopsy on the dog and thus authorities could not examine the cause of death.
