Less than 24 hours since residents in parts of Australia’s Victoria state fled bushfires, authorities warned on October 5, 2023, of flooding as heavy rain douses flames and swells rivers in the southeastern state. Across the border in New South Wales state, a bushfire was out of control near the town of Bermagui, southwest of Sydney.
