A fierce debate is under way in Hobart, Australia – whether to turn one of the remotest parts of the planet into the largest protected area.
The Weddell Sea in Antarctica holds a vast array of wildlife and, experts believe, thousands of undiscovered species.
Scientists and campaigners are supporting a proposal of the European Union to turn it into a no-go zone for industrial fishing, mining and deep sea drilling.
