The Centre for Policy Studies is delighted to invite you to the online launch of our new report Driving Change – How hydrogen can power a transport revolution, sponsored by Ryse Hydrogen. The event is taking place on Thursday 4th June at 5pm.

Leslie Hook, Environment and Clean Energy Correspondent at The Financial Times, will chair a panel discussion with The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP, Secretary of State for Transport, Baroness Brown, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Climate Change, Eamonn Ives, Business Researcher at the CPS and author of the report, and Ben Houchen, Mayor of the Tees Valley, with introductory words from Jo Bamford, Executive Chairman of Ryse Hydrogen.

The UK Government is committed to reaching Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Transport is now the biggest contributor to emissions – and the main driver of dangerously high levels of air pollution in many towns and cities. The new report argues that the current approach to transport decarbonisation risks leaving many vehicles behind, as well as forfeiting significant future economic opportunities. ‘Driving Change – How hydrogen can power a transport revolution’, authored by Eamonn Ives, calls for hydrogen to be given a much bigger role in transport decarbonisation by using the UK bus fleet as a testbed for the technology. Embracing hydrogen would also give Britain an opportunity to lead the world in a vital sector and create thousands of green jobs – at a time when other economies are moving quickly to seize the global hydrogen market.
