‘Day of the dead’: People perform ‘bone washing’ ritual ahead of annual holiday in Mexico

The people of Pomuch, in the Mexican state of Campeche, head to the cemetery, ahead of Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) to perform the unique annual ritual of ‘Bone washing.’

According to the tradition, the bone washing is the preamble to the dinner, in which the dead return from the hereafter to visit the living.
