Uber Hong Kong General Manager Estyn Chung spoke with the South China Morning Post about how moving the ride-hailing company’s Asia headquarters to Hong Kong could benefit the city as well as offer a win-win deal for residents struggling with the Covid-19 pandemic and political uncertainties. On May 26, 2020, Uber said it was prepared to move its regional headquarters to the city if the government would provide a regulatory framework that would allow the company to operate legally.
