The coronavirus outbreak has had a serious impact on the treatment of other seriously ill people. Cancer care has been badly affected, with some screening, treatments and trials postponed or delayed.

Patients diagnosed with cancer have been speaking to BBC News about how they are dealing with the added threat to their health as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile the live entertainments industry has been bought to a standstill by the crisis. Theatres are especially badly affected and under mounting financial pressure and many are now relying on emergency support.

Sophie Raworth presents BBC News at Ten reporting from Jeremy Cooke on the challenges faced by cancer patients. And Arts Editor Will Gompertz reports on the difficult future for the nation’s theatres.
