Scientists from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have started testing seawater and marine life for radiation near Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant. It is the UN nuclear watchdog’s first inspection tour since treated waste water from the earthquake and tsunami-damaged plant started being released into nearby waters. The group, including scientists from China, South Korea and Canada, visited the Hisanohama port on October 19, 2023, to collect fish and water samples.
