Police were on a different road when two best friends were killed in an electric bike crash that sparked a riot in Cardiff, a senior officer has said.

Harvey Evans, 15, and Kyrees Sullivan, 16, died in the Ely area on Monday.

Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Bacon told a press conference that a police van was on Grand Avenue when the crash happened on Snowden Road.

She said no other vehicles were involved, but would not comment on why police were following the teenagers.
