There are claims today that Labor’s industrial relations reforms will mean a “class war” death blow for productivity, says Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“Companies claim they’ll have to sack staff or become commercially unviable,” Ms Markson said.

“The IR reforms Tony Burke is driving are so radical that that businesses and employer groups – both previously cosying up to Labor – have now joined forces to mount a fight greater than the anti-mining tax campaign.

Ms Markson said the reforms are on top of other laws that are going to see casuals paid more than permanent staff.

“These reforms would be problematic if they were introduced at any point in time but in the middle of a devastating cost of living crisis, it’s astonishing that Labor is pursuing them.”
