A 95-year-old woman remained in critical condition after she was tasered by police at an elderly care home in Cooma, Australia, on May 19, 2023. Police arrived at the scene and found that Clare Nowland was holding a steak knife outside her room. An officer fired a taser at the woman after she failed to drop the knife. An advocacy group said people with dementia should be treated with care and kindness, not force.
