American stocks clawed back much of the ground lost in an early plunge triggered by the news of the arrest of Huawei Technologies CFO, Meng Wanzhou, in Canada at the United States’ request.
The initial drop joined a global rout, reviving worries over trade tensions. Meng’s arrest threatens to drive a wedge between the US and China just days after they agreed on a 90-day trade-war truce in Argentina on Saturday.
