The Democrats have demanded emergency hearings in the House of Representatives, to facilitate an investigation into the sacking of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
They accuse President Donald Trump of trying to undermine the special counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
The White House rejects the allegations.
