The Sri Lankan government has banned chemical fertiliser imports to save millions of dollars a year.
The ban is part of a government clampdown on what it calls non-essential imports during a serious foreign currency crisis.
But farmers say the hoped-for savings will be challenged by food shortages

Al Jazeera’s Minelle Fernandez reports from Uva, Sri Lanka.
