Even more significant than the teams marching together at Pyeongchang was the presence of Kim Jong-un’s sister in North Korea’s delegation.

She is the first member of the North Korean leader’s family to set foot in South Korea since the war between the two countries in the 1950s.

Kim Yo-jong shook hands with the South Korean president and sat right behind Moon Jae-in and not far from US Vice President Mike Pence.

Al Jazeera’s Natasha Ghoneim reports from Gangneung, South Korea.
